For more then 1,900 years, since Jesus gave us the Perpetual Sacrifice of Himself, Priests have been offering Mass intentions.
At every Holy Mass the Priest is to offer a specific Mass intention. This can be for a particular person (living or deceased), intercession, or thanksgiving for a Grace. It has always been common practice to ask a Parish to have a Mass intention offered. These are scheduled in advance and published in the bulletin. As we each offer our own intention at Mass the Priest will offer the specific intention as his own.
It is customary to give a Mass stipend. In the Diocese of Grand Island, that tends to be $10. This is not required though.
If you would like to give the gift of a Mass intention for someone (living or deceased or you personally) or some request (peace, pro-life, vocations etc…):
> You can fill out the envelopes located in the back of the SHC Churches and leave them in the collection basket.
>Or write out your request and mail it to the SHC Parish Offices.
>Please keep in mind Masses are scheduled in advance. We will do what we can to honor your request. If that date is slated for an intention already, we will look for the closest available day.
“I am the living bread which came down from Heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is My Flesh!”
-Jesus (John 6:51)
“There is nothing so great as the Eucharist. If God had something more precious, He would have given it to us.”
-Saint Jean Vianney
